Jayam Ravi’s angry young man avatars have always won him special praises, especially for his magnum opus movie like ‘Thani Oruvan’. He is back into such an impactful film ‘Adanga Maru’, directed by Karthik Thangavel. The film is produced by Sujataa Vijaykumar with Raashi Khanna, Sampath, Mime Gopi, Panchu Subbu, Meera Vasudevan, Ponvannan, Azhagam Perumal as a part of star-cast.
The fury cop is on the mission of unraveling the mystery behind unusual deaths, which closed ‘Suicide cases’ by police department. As he manages to nab those roughnecks belonging to rich family backgrounds into prison for few minutes, he faces the terrible consequences of losing everything he loved.

The film opens on a much commercial note with stereotypical hero who uses his smartness to settle down the issues involving Students Vs Wine shop owner. This is followed by series of events involving family, love and a smart brainy tiny clash with a bigwig chap. But when you’re settling down with judgment that it’s going to be the entire plot, we are surprised with new conflict. But what actually gives Goosebumps is the point of interval, where the protagonist offers a shock and surprise with his brain. But what could have been a version is that Karthik Thangavel should have refrained from letting the protagonist reveal his plans. But then, it doesn’t stand out as a major barricade. However, after a certain extent, too much of cyber-ness will actually impress minuscule groups, but might step over the heads for sub-urban and rural audiences.
Jayam Ravi gives his best into the role. His herculean looks and highly expressive emotions are appreciable
Jayam Ravi gives his best into the role. His herculean looks and highly expressive emotions are appreciable. Raashi Khanna doesn’t get enough footage, but she keeps emoting effectively. She is a girl to watch out for and has all possibilities to top the rank here, especially with female centric movies. All the other characters in the film don’t have so much prominence.
The greatest showstopper is Editor Ruben, who tried his best to keep the narration crisp
As usual, Sam CS gives his best offering through background, but he has to slightly change his route as most of those signature tunes resembles ‘Vikram Vedha’. This isn’t something to be blamed for it indues overpowering impact for the film, but just a small suggestion. Sathyan Sooryan’s cinematography is yet another highlighting. With the film being set against the tensed ambience, he maintains the coolness with right tones. More than everyone, the greatest showstopper is Editor Ruben, who tried his best to keep the narration crisp, though the second half becomes more stretched despites ‘Racy’ attempt.
Overall, Adanga Maru is nowhere different from the regular Cop Vs Baddies revenge story. The screenplay is more predictable. If the director had maintained consistency in giving unexpected surprises as in the point of intermission, avoiding over-stretched cat and mouse mode, the film would have been one of the best racy entertainers of this season.

Our Verdict: Holds enough raciness in places, but the predictable narration hampers down the momentum.
