Sandakozhi 2 Music Review

Who can forget the most scintillating combination of Vishal-Lingusamy-Yuvan Shankar Raja with ‘Sandakozhi’? The same trio combo is back in action with ‘Sandakozhi 2’, which has already gained an immense popularity and huge expectations involving the release on October 18. With Yuvan Shankar Raja consistently delivering back to back Chartbuster hits, let us check out if he has surprised us yet again.

Kambathu Ponnu
Singer: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Lyrics: Yegathasi

The album opens with a refreshing number with Yuvan Shankar Raja exhibiting a beautiful and enjoyable track. The folk element is retained throughout the song with western appeal as in the regular ‘Yuvan Effect’ is so much appealing. The beats are simple and Yuvan Shankar crooning it is one of the greatest highlights.

Meesa Vecha Vettaikaran
Singer: Mahalingam
Lyrics: Arun Bharathi

The song’s lyrical lines indirectly signify the persona of Vishal and Raj Kiran in few places. The initial moments might look like a regular festival song, but then, Yuvan Shankar Raja brings up his Midas-Touch in interludes. Even the chorus part by singers adds up the exact festive feeling.

Alalaa
Singer: Kailash Kher
Lyrics: Karky

It’s Kailash Kher all the way, where he possesses such an amazing voice to add up the emotional punch through his rendition. The flute works during the interludes soak us completely into the song and it will definitely bring up an intense effect with the visuals.

Sooriyarum Sooriyanum
Singers: Chorus
Lyrics: Brindha Sarathy

Dialogue writer Brindha Sarathy turns lyricist with this song ‘Sooriyarum Sooriyanum’, which has beautiful phrases indeed. It looks like a montage song, where there isn’t much to emphasise, but overall with bunch of singers crooning it as chorus, it will bring up more enlivenment to this visual on big screens.

Sengarattan Paaraiyila
Singer: Ramani Ammal and Senthil Dass
Lyrics: Arivumathi

The song became already famous due to its single track effect, where the Dubstep blended with the folk number became an instant hit.

Overall, Sandakozhi 2 doesn’t stand anywhere close to the first part. Of course, the first part didn’t have any big chartbusters, but at least owned a beautiful number like ‘Dhaavani Potta Deepavali’. Over here, Yuvan Shankar Raja adapts too much of western spell rather than bringing us a native feel.
