Film is about the life of a Tamil folk art (form of karagattam) troupe owned by Sannasi (sasi). Movie mainly focus on the love between Sannasi and Sooravali (folk dancer) and how their life changes upside down after a particular incident. Film also focus on how the art is slowly getting disappeared.

First of all Salute to our Maestro Ilayaraja for achieving this great milestone 1000th film.He stays as the biggest strength of the film. Wonderful re-recording, none other than Raja sir would have done justice. Each and every scene was elevated by the music.’Idarinum..’ and ‘Paaruruvaaya’ songs stay classic.

Bala is known for extracting complete performance from the actors, This film is also not an exception. Sasikumar has lived as Nadaswaram player sannasi, the troupe leader.Well settled acting, his dance moments, expressions in emotional scenes, efforts taken for climax fight sequence are worth to mention.

Varalaxmi rocks as ‘Sooravali’, this is going to be a memorable film in her career. The best performance, First half was full and full of varu’s show. She scores in each scene, let it be dance sequences, dialogue delivery, emotional scenes or even fight sequence. Way to go.Unfortunately she comes only for 3-4 scenes in the second half. Sasikumar-Varu combination scenes are note worthy.

Other cast includes Vijay TV fame Amuthavanan, Aanandhi. Their dance sequence is the second half is enjoyable. G.M.Kumar plays as sasi’s dad, he proves again why he is a brilliant actor. Cameo and a dance number by Gayatri Raguram. Antagonist role has been played by Producer Suresh of Studio 9 Media Works. He is a Perfect fit for villain in the movie.

Special accolades for the dance choreography. All the dance sequences have come out very well.Camera and editing department has done commendable job. Action choreographer Pandian should be appreciated for the well made fight sequences, especially the climax fight and Andaman fight. Film duration is just 2 hours 5 mins.

Bala, the man who makes quality movies has delivered yet another one. A musical drama with good screenplay. First half is fun and emotional. Pre interval 15 minutes scenes are awesome. Second half is more violent, little draggy and film ends with a bala’s touch. Dialogues are very good.

Highlights of the film are Ilayaraja’s magical music, Pre-Interval conversation portion, Sasikumar-Varalaxmi combo scenes, Dance choreography, Dialogues and First half. On the negative side, second half is draggy with a tragedy climax. If you like Bala’s previous films, you are gonna love this one too.
