Tik Tik Tik Movie Review

Right from the moment, when the official announcement was made that Tik Tik Tik is going to be first ever space thriller, the expectations were getting to the peak. Moreover, the same combination of director Sakthi Soundarajan and Jayam Ravi together had offered us ‘Miruthan’, which was the first ever Zombie based movie to be made in South Indian industry. Apparently, this movie had gained incredible laurels and accolades across many International film festivals as well. Evidently, the production value involved in the film is pretty huge, which we can witness in each and every frame.

First and foremost, the team deserves special mention for the great efforts. Particularly, producer Nemichand Jhabak, who had banked all his hopes on this new of its kind project.

5 minutes into the film, we are clearly made understood what this film all about. A powerful asteroid from outer space has pierced through the lanes of Chennai devastating the lives of hundreds. The Indian space research organization finds out that it’s not the end. A much gigantic ton of asteroid will plunge into the Southern part of Indian in 10 more days.

To curb down its arrival and destroy it before reaching the safe zone of Earth planet, it needs 200 tons of missile, which has to be illegally accessed in the space station of other country and used to stop it.

But the biggest challenge is – The mission has to be accomplished in nearly a week time and everything has to happen in space. This is where; they seek the help of a brutally intelligent and cunning magician (Jayam Ravi) and his team (Ramesh Thilak and Arjun) to get it done. Will these amateur people get it done in the outer space?

As cited before, Sakthi Soundarajan has conceptualized a unique concept that none had tried to experiment before in the entire Indian film industry. Let us first look into the positive aspects of the film.

The unparalleled theme, the production values and yes, the emotional quotient involved in the plot stands out to be the major attraction.

In addition, the performance of star-cast, especially Jayam Ravi and Nivetha Pethuraj is stupendous. They have given their inmost effort into the roles. Although, it’s rope effect used to generate the space like movements, it looks so realistic and that’s because of their complete involvement and dedication.

On the flip side, the title ‘Tik Tik Tik’ doesn’t get well with the narration of script. The title signifies that every second is crucial, but then, the exact thrill moments pop up only by the final moments. Of course, the last 25 minutes keeps us edge-seated. But that is not evident in other portions. To be precise, the actual drama in this film is these 25 minutes.

We see Jayam Ravi as a magician, who is given a strong delineation even before his introduction, but then the way he utilizes them during the demanding situations are less.

Musical score by D Imman is extraordinary and it stands out to be an enriching pillar to this film. Thanks to the team for restricting the songs to just couple of tracks. The song ‘Kurumba’ is very well pictured.

At this juncture, the performance by Aarav, Jayam Ravi’s son has to be mentioned. He is cute, innocent and gives a good performance.

There are few things in the logical department that the makers should have been aware about. The astronauts coming back to the planet would be confined to secured zone for some time after returning from outer space. But here, we find them interacting at a bus depot after their arrival. Such things should have been given proper focus and then Tik Tik Tik would have been yet finest at its level.

Overall, Tik Tik Tik is a good attempt by the team, but the thrill moments are actually happening only in the penultimate 25 minutes to climax.
