Movie is about love and destiny. Films talks about how the lovers gets united in fourth attempt after 3 failures. Three stories, one in Burma (1962), another in Vyasarpaadi (1987) and last but not least in the current year (2014).

Dhanush has total four get ups in the film. As kaali/Ashwin/Murugappan he excels in each role. He has showed a clear variations in both body language and dialogue delivery. As a north Chennai guy with local Tamil slang and curly hair, Kaali stays in mind. Dhanush yet again proved that he is capable of doing any kind of role.

Heroine Amyra Dastur, A fresh face for our Kollywood. Good looking with a cute mole on her left cheek. She delivers a wonderful performance with perfect lip sync. She has more scope to perform than Dhanush in the Burma portions. Another heroine Aishwarya Devan is sexy and did her portions well.

Its good to see Karthick sir after so many years in a lengthy role. His acting in second half towards the pre climax is superb. Conversation between Dhanush and karthick’s in the pre-climax position was clap worthy. Jegan, Aishwarya devan,Thalaivasal vijay, Aashish vidyarthi and Leena have done justice to their roles.

Harris Jayaraj’s music and songs are perfect fit to the movie. BGM is commendable. All the songs are chartbusters already. ’Danga maari..’ is the hit song of the year. First half holds 4 songs and second half with 2 songs. ’Thodu vaanam’, ‘Roja kadhale’, title song ‘Deivangal’ and ‘Aathadi’ all songs are choreographed well.

Kudos to the camera man Om Prakash. Film is visually stunning, especially songs. Apt cinematography. Clean editing. Script and screenplay by K.V.Anand and Subha, brilliant work. A comeback for K.V.Anand. Among 4 stories 2 happens in reality and two are imaginary. There are 2 villains. Destiny plays the main villain and another villain is an easy guess.

Screenplay is very engaging in the first half. Second half is good except the unconvincing climax. The way they mapped the stories is awesome. There are plenty of logical flaws. So the end left open and puzzled. Despite of the open questions, movie is enjoyable throughout. Overall its a well packed romantic thriller.
