When a story is set against the backdrops of a tribal community, it would definitely have a dark theme as it premise. But it’s quite a challenge to bring up humour into this zone and director Arumuga Kumar has handled it convincingly. It’s a completely a new of its kind attempt, which needs a special attention. Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren starring Vijay Sethupathi and Gautham Karthik in lead roles is based on a simple plot.

Yaman (Vijay Sethupathi) hails from a tribal community in hilly forests of Yama Singa Puram, which earns the livelihood with thievings. But the tribe’s intention is not to cause any kind of physical damages to the victims, but just loot their wealth and money. During one such act, he comes across Sowmya (Niharika), a college student and kidnaps her claiming her to be his wife. Her close friend Harish (Gautham Karthik) along with his bestie (Danny) set out to save her now.

Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren Movie Review & Rating

As above mentioned, Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren is a comedy that doesn’t get indulged in anything serious. So much of simplicity in dialogues and it works out fine results in tickling our funny bones. Witty liners contribute at its best in addition to Vijay Sethupathi’s screen presence. When it comes to this actor, he is someone who could be literally sparking off humour just with his dialogue deliveries and body language. He does it all evidently in this movie in his own style.

On the counterpart, Gautham Karthik tries to bring the best with his hilarious approach. It does work out in few scenes and in fact, his characterization itself is sketched with humour. The scene where he keeps uttering ‘Rashtrapathi’ relentlessly is sure to drop heavy laughter, which happens in combination with Danny. Others in the star-cast including Gayathri and Niharika have done what is required. The director could have spent some ideas on elaborating the connection between Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathri. Rajkumar offers his best hilarious moments with Vijay Sethupathi in all his portions.

The songs don’t look so much important in the screenplay, but the background score is really commendable.

On the whole, Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren has its way to keep you enthralled in many occasions. The hilarious episodes involving the actors work out and it’s a movie that you can watch out for free time and weekends
