In the recent times, Vikram Prabhu hasn’t been able to offer a best of his outing and his recent release ‘Sathriyan’ has kept up a decent graph of expectation for it comes from filmmaker SR Prabhakaran, who has shot to fame for ‘Sundarapandian’ and ‘Idhu Kathiravelan Kadhal’. Manjima Mohan plays the female lead role with Yuvan Shankar Raja composing music.

Set in the city of Trichy, the story revolves around Vikram Prabhu, who is considered as brewing don. When he is urged by situations to accompany Manjima Mohan, daughter of his deceased boss – a reigning don as bodyguard, both of them fall in love. Sooner, there comes a toilsome phase of testing the relationships through emotional hardships of friendship, loyalty and betrayal.

As mentioned earlier, SR Prabhakaran has delivered couple of decent family entertainers in the past and this had prompted us with some high hopes about this film. But then, nearly for the first 10-15 minutes, we are kept intact with the drama, but suddenly everything falls short of expectations. The entire first half is wasted with Vikram Prabhu and Manjima Mohan sequences. The second half lacks momentum and nearly till the film’s climax, we are wondering what this film is all about. By the end, the director sends a strong message through Vikram Prabhu that ‘One who uses Knife dies away with it’. Uff! Haven’t we seen them many times on the big screens.

Background score by Yuvan Shankar Raja is top-notch, which goes separately without interfering or acquainted with the drama, which is so sluggish. Cinematography is top-notch with the visuals of Trichy and its surrounding locales very well pictured.

The film hardly has impressive moments and we are totally disappointed with the overall show.
