Scene after scene, you’ll be enthralled over the massive screen presence of Ajith Kumar. Well, this has been an intriguing part of every Ajith Kumar movie isn’t it? This time, he emerges to pull up more efforts to enthral his fans and the big question is – Are only the Ajith fans gratified with Vivegam or the universal audiences… Let us have a look with crisp and vivid analysis.

Set against the International backdrops of premise, the film revolves around a secret society that keeps hatching cruel plans of devastating countries with natural calamities to gain some profitable means. While Interpol Department and military forces are relentlessly involved over the mission to curb it down, we have AK (Ajith Kumar) embarking on a crucial journey to take things single-handed.

Does Vivegam gratify only Ajith Kumar fans or universal audiences, the answer would go positive to the former groups.

Director Siva has clearly understood what an ardent Ajith Kumar fan would look up for. Well, it was so much evident with the film’s theatrical trailer, where the actor does his routine stuffs to gratify them. But as mentioned above with a question – Does Vivegam gratify only Ajith Kumar fans or universal audiences, the answer would go positive to the former groups. The film’s opening premise followed by few instances during first half really make an impressive spell though filled with some dull moments. When we start believing that the post-intermission sequences are going to be brimming up with edge-seated moments, what we get to see is a major disappointment, where the logical components are completely missing.

The film completely belongs to Ajith Kumar. He has done a remarkable hard work, which definitely needs tons of appreciations.

Getting on with the positive notes, the film completely belongs to Ajith Kumar. He has done a remarkable hard work, which definitely needs tons of appreciations. The stunts without dupes and brilliant sequences over action blocks are stunning. Visuals are really great in places, but after some points, it looks like watching someone play video games. To make sure that the film doesn’t turn completely action packed thriller, Siva and his team of writers seems to have included sentiments of 80s and 90s Tamil cinema. Family, friendship and betrayals to a man of mission – Something we have already seen with Vijayakanth, Arjun and other onscreen saviour movies, aren’t it?

Dialogues are one of the strongest element that keeps winning the applause of Ajith Kumar fans.

Dialogues are one of the strongest element that keeps winning the applause of Ajith Kumar fans.  Editing by Reuben seems to be purposely done with fast cuts to give an impression of racy screenplay, but it really looks evident.

When Akshara Haasan makes her way into screens, the theatres erupt with huge response, but sooner her characterization is reduced to a feeble one. Kajal Aggarwal is merely used for sentiments like those wives of honest and sincere policemen or saviours go through hurdles in Hindi movies before decades. Vivek Oberoi looks stylish and does his part well, but again characterization should have been better.

Overall, Ajith Kumar’s Vivegam turns out to be a mediocre film which comes packaged with the actor’s mind-boggling hard work and some technical brilliance and powerful dialogues. But end of the show, what would make an audience glued up is an engaging screenplay, especially for a genre like this, it deserves logic, where both are missing here.
