OTT War! Coolie beats Jana Nayagan with a decent difference

Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Vijay’s Jana Nayagan are the much-awaited films of the year 2025-26 calendar. With the shooting of both these films wrapped up, it’s been an unending buzz doing rounds about the pre-release business of these movies. The film ‘Coolie’, being a multi-starrer, is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has an ensemble star-cast including Aamir Khan, Upendra, Nagarjuna, Shruthi Haasan and Sathyaraj in the pivotal roles. On the other hand, Vijay is playing the lead role in Jana Nayagan with Pooja Hegde as the heroine and Bobby Deol as the villain. While Coolie is all set for the worldwide theatrical release on August 14, the latter one will have its worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026. While there have been fluctuations in the industry regarding the OTT rights of this film, it is now said that both Coolie and Jana Nayagan rights have been acquired by Netflix for the price tag of Rs. 125Cr. This way, both the stars have ended up on the same score. 

However, the other sources mention that Coolie has been locked for Rs.110Cr and Jana Nayagan for 90Cr.
