Aan Paavam Pollathathu Review – A decent enjoyable fun-filled entertainer

Published:

Aan Paavam Pollathathu features Rio Raj and Malavika Manoj in the lead roles.  Here’s our Aan Paavam Pollathathu Review. The movie is a Rom-Com Entertainer that also features Vigneshkanth and Sheela Rajkumar in prominent roles.

Story

Siva (Rio Raj) from Madurai works at an IT company in Chennai. His marriage is arranged with the consent of both families to Shakthi (Malavika Manoj) from Coimbatore. The newly married couple settles into an apartment in Chennai. Their married life, which begins with love, intimacy, and playful quarrels, soon turns turbulent within a few months, leading them to the steps of the court.

While Siva, who wishes to avoid divorce, is supported by Narayanan (RJ Vigneshkanth), Shakthi, who firmly insists on separation, is represented by Lakshmi (Sheela Rajkumar). What went wrong between the couple? Did their conflict end in reconciliation or divorce? These questions are explored in in this film, directed by debut filmmaker Kalaiarasan Thangavel.

Performance

Rio Raj brings charm and humor with his effortless body language, skillfully portraying Siva’s affection for his wife, his helplessness, and his emotional struggle. Malavika Manoj excels as Shakthi, a woman of many shades, embodying innocence, anger, frustration, tears, and guilt, all while maintaining control over the emotional tone of her character. RJ Vigneshkanth impresses as a quiet, pain-bearing lawyer without dramatics, while Sheela Rajkumar shines as the spirited and assertive advocate. Jenson Diwakar adds delightful comic relief throughout with his witty one-liners that keep the proceedings lively.

Technical Analysis

In our Aan Paavam Pollathathu Review analysis – Madesh Manickam has provided vibrant and colourful cinematography that perfectly complements the tone of a rom-com. Editor K.G. Varun keeps the first half engaging with interesting cuts and smooth transition effects between scenes.

All the songs composed by Siddhu Kumar blend seamlessly with the flow of the story, serving their purpose well. In the background score, Siddhu masterfully intertwines comedy, romance, and emotion, enhancing the film’s overall mood and rhythm.

Narrative Analysis

The film dives straight into the story, beginning with the love and intimacy between the couple. The light-hearted portrayal of their personalities and the humorous depiction of the conflicts that arise from their contrasting traits make it easy for the audience to get involved in the narrative.

However, the writing falters when it comes to balance and honesty in character development. The female lead is portrayed in a demeaning manner, her dignity often undermined, while the male lead is shown as entirely virtuous, even his mistakes are justified through sympathetic scenes. This lack of fairness in the writing reflects a clear bias and compromises the integrity of the storytelling. Yes, as the title suggests, the movie is about the turbulences and emotional issues faced by men in the marriage. However, marriage isn’t about winning sides of gender, but something that should do with love and peace, compassion and understanding among the couple. This message seems to be missing in this movie.

On the whole, Aan Paavam Pollathathu review verdict is that it is totally an entertaining movie, and hence, there’s no need to look out for so many socialistic and logical components.
