Made in Korea Movie Review: Breezy Feel Good Enjoyable Film
Director Ra Karthik, who earlier impressed audiences with Nitham Oru Vaanam, returns with Made in Korea, a cross-cultural drama headlined by Priyanka Mohan. The film brings together Indian and Korean talents, featuring Park Hye-Jin and Rishikanth in key roles. Produced by Sreenidhi Sagar under the Rise East Entertainment banner, the film takes a slice-of-life approach and presents a simple yet emotional journey set across Tamil Nadu and South Korea.
The story follows Shenba, a young woman from Ooty who has dreamt of visiting Korea since childhood. As she grows up, she plans to travel there with her boyfriend, but unexpected circumstances force her to make the journey alone. What follows is a new chapter in her life as she navigates an unfamiliar country, dealing with loneliness, cultural differences, and unexpected friendships. Through several ups and downs, Shenba slowly discovers her strength and identity while adjusting to life in a completely different environment.
One of the biggest highlights of the film is its visual presentation. The cinematography beautifully captures the landscapes and cityscapes of Korea, giving the film a visually pleasant texture throughout. The storytelling style is intentionally light and relaxed, making the narrative feel breezy and easy to follow.
The writing focuses on small emotional beats rather than heavy drama, which works well for the tone of the film. At the heart of the story lies a meaningful message: instead of chasing admiration from other cultures, the film subtly reminds viewers to become someone whose own identity draws others towards them.
However, the film does encounter minor slowdowns in certain stretches. While these moments slightly affect the flow, the narrative generally manages to maintain its gentle rhythm without drifting too far from its core mood.
Priyanka Mohan delivers a decent performance as Shenba and fits comfortably into the role. The film also benefits from its solid production quality, with neat visuals and grounded storytelling contributing to its overall watchability.
