JioHotstar’s Family Drama ‘Brothers and Sisters’ Set to Premiere on May 27
JioHotstar is gearing up for the launch of its much-awaited long-format family series Brothers and Sisters, which will begin streaming from May 27. The show will follow a weekly release schedule with fresh episodes every Wednesday.
Building on the popularity of its successful long-running originals such as Uppu Puli Kaaram, Heartbeat, and Resort, JioHotstar has released a series of vibrant promos that offer a glimpse into the lively world of the Ponmalar family. The teasers have struck a chord with viewers by blending humour, warmth, and relatable family dynamics.
At the heart of the story is Shanmuga Sundaram (played by Bose Venkat), a respected textile businessman and strict family patriarch. He lives with his naïve and affectionate wife Ponmalar (Gayathri Shastry) and their four children:
- Nikhila – a lawyer
- Luthuf – an IT professional
- Kishore – a DJ
- Shravnitha – an aspiring cricketer
While the initial promos highlight the fun, chaos, and emotional bonds within the household, they gradually unveil the central conflict — Shanmuga Sundaram’s secret affair and the existence of a possible second family. As the shocking truth surfaces, the siblings come together and take a solemn oath to end the affair and save their family from breaking apart.
The quirky and emotionally charged promos, along with a special Mother’s Day video released by JioHotstar, have gone viral across social media, creating significant buzz. The campaign has not only delighted existing fans of JioHotstar’s long-format content but has also attracted a new wave of family viewers eager to follow the Ponmalar family’s journey.
The series is headlined by Bose Venkat, Gayathri Shastry, Raj Ayyappa, Nikhila Shankar, Luthuf, Kishore, Shravnitha, and Promothini. It is directed by Chidambaram Manivannan, who previously helmed the hit shows Uppu Puli Kaaram and Police Police.
With a perfect mix of humour, emotion, family drama, and everyday conflicts, Brothers and Sisters is expected to be an engaging weekly watch for audiences across all generations.
