AR Rahman Concert – 3 hours of non-stop transfixing magic

Have you ever come across an event that never had Emcees or beautiful comperes interrupting the show with their lofty talks? AR Rahman’s ‘Nenje Ezhu’ concert is something beyond incredibleness as the academy award winner stunned every spectator to the core with 3 hours of non-stop music. There wasn’t any introduction nor any unwanted chats with the anchor Bhavana, but the musical spell was relentlessly happening there.

It all started exactly by the twilight hours around 7.30, where AR Rahman appeared amidst huge grandeur with the opening song ‘Ellam Pugazhum’ from Azhagiya Tamizh Magan followed by ‘Athiradi’ song from Sivaji the Boss. The concert took an impulsive cheering up from the crowds when Rahman mixed ‘Mustafa Mustafa’ with the rhythmic accompaniment of ‘Sadda Haq’ from Rock Star. Maiya Maiya from Guru was the sizzling moment to see the singers and dancers scorch the dais. What followed next was a bunch of melodious songs that included ‘Sowkiyama Kanne’ from ‘Sangamam’ and then the arrival of Hariharan made more enchanting moments. He crooned a beautiful melody of ‘Kurkku Sirithavale’ from Mudhalvan with Swetha Menon following which the crowds went crazy with the same combination of singers rendering ‘Kuchi Kuchi Raakkamma’ from Bombay.

Vijay Prakash appeared with a blazing number ‘Mersalaayitten’ from I and of course, we all missed Anirudh over there. ‘Innum Konja Neram’ with Vijay Prakash and Swetha was a lullaby under the new moon with the chilling breeze embracing us.

More splendiferous moments arrived, when AR Rahman made an interview like concept with Srinivas, Haricharan, Vijay Prakash and Benny Dayal about their first love. Everyone rendered their lines together from the song ‘Pennala Pennala’ from Uzhavan. The crowds involving kids to nannies start dancing to the numbers like ‘Maduraiku Pogadhadi’ from Azhagiya Tamizh Magan and ‘Ballelaka’ from Sivaji.

The unbelievable scintillating moments, where everyone turned madder in love was Blaaze, Aryan Dinesh and Lady Kash turning the venue with mind blowing rap session for 15 minutes that had lots of surprise elements like Robot, Dol Dol, Fanaa song remixed. The event had lots more fascinating songs for the audiences with AR Rahman crooning ‘Dil Se’ in Hindi followed by ‘Humma Humma’ from Bombay.

The 3-hr event concluded with AR Rahman’s ‘Aayutha Ezhuthu’ song ‘Jana Gana Mana’ that embellished the Youth Power and a tribute like song to the youngsters, who gave their best power towards Chennai flood relief mission with just few lines from ‘Nenje Ezhu’ and to a surprise, there was no ‘Vande Mataram’.
