Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an Indian actress who primarily works in Telugu and Tamil cinema. Born on 28 April 1987 in Chennai to Joseph Prabhu (Telugu) and Ninette (Malayali), she grew up in Pallavaram as the youngest of three siblings, with elder brothers Jonathan and David. She completed her schooling at Holy Angels Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School and graduated in commerce from Stella Maris College, Chennai. While studying, she began modelling, which led to her entry into films. Samantha made her acting debut with the Telugu romantic drama Ye Maaya Chesave (2010), directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut – South. She quickly established herself with critically and commercially successful roles, notably winning both the Filmfare Best Actress – Tamil and Best Actress – Telugu awards in the same year for Neethaane En Ponvasantham and Eega (2012). One of South India’s highest-paid actresses, she has received multiple accolades, including four Filmfare Awards South, two Nandi Awards, and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.
