Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has spoken out amid chatter that his upcoming film Coolie is overloaded with celebrity appearances. Dismissing the notion of “cameos,” he clarified that every actor in the film plays a meaningful and well-written role that adds value to the story. Drawing a parallel to his blockbuster Vikram, he pointed out how Suriya’s character Rolex—though brief—was vital to the film’s core, and said the same level of intent drives the casting in Coolie.

Slated to release on August 14, 2025, Coolie is shaping up to be a powerhouse entertainer. With Rajinikanth leading the charge, the film also stars Nagarjuna, Upendra, Aamir Khan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan.
