Tiger vs Pathaan Dropped? YRF Hits Pause on Spy Universe Plans
In a surprising move, Yash Raj Films has reportedly hit the brakes on its star-studded Spy Universe. The highly anticipated Tiger vs Pathaan, which was set to bring Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan face-to-face in a blockbuster showdown, is now on indefinite hold.
Sources reveal that Aditya Chopra is taking a step back to reimagine the creative direction of the franchise. With concerns over repetitive storytelling, the studio is reassessing its future roadmap. Projects like Pathaan 2 remain in development but may also face delays.
Meanwhile, War 2 and Alpha—the latter being YRF’s first female-led spy film starring Alia Bhatt—are still on track for theatrical releases this year. Their performance could determine whether the studio moves forward with younger spies, including a possible Vicky Kaushal-led film that’s currently in early talks.
After the lukewarm response to Tiger 3, YRF is also putting a pause on future Tiger installments, with no Tiger 4 in sight for now.
As the Spy Universe cools down, YRF is shifting gears. The action-packed Dhoom 4, starring Ranbir Kapoor and directed by Ayan Mukerji, is in development and set to roll in 2026.
