Nagarjuna Reacts to Dhanush Fan Backlash on Kuberaa issue
Following the roaring success of Kuberaa, which released on June 20 and is already dominating box office charts, actor Nagarjuna Akkineni has now addressed a wave of online backlash surrounding a recent comment he made during the film’s promotions.
In an earlier statement, Nagarjuna had expressed that he felt like the “hero” of Kuberaa, a remark that triggered discontent among fans of Dhanush, who plays the titular role of Deva in the film. Social media erupted with trolls and criticism, suggesting Nagarjuna was downplaying Dhanush’s contribution to the film.
At a recent success meet, the veteran actor chose to clear the air and set the record straight. “I’ve seen all the memes, and I understand the reaction. But what I said was taken out of context. I never intended to take credit away from anyone,” he stated.
Nagarjuna emphasized that the film is a collective effort and highlighted that its strength lies in the ensemble, not in any single character. “This isn’t my film or any one person’s film. Kuberaa belongs to every artist, every technician who gave it their all. Most importantly, it is director Sekhar Kammula’s vision that shaped this story.”
He further added, “This is Deva’s story, not Dhanush, the actor, but Deva, the character. It’s Deepak’s film, Sameera’s journey, Khushboo’s strength. It is a shared canvas, and no one person owns it.”
With this heartfelt clarification, Nagarjuna appears to have brought much-needed closure to the debate, reinforcing the idea that cinema is, above all, a collaborative art form.
