In recent times, the number of South Indian directors and actors entering Bollywood has been increasing. However, none of them have been able to firmly establish themselves in the industry.
Actor Hrithik Roshan’s War 2 is set to release on the 14th of this month, and through this film, Telugu actor Jr. NTR will be making his Bollywood debut. Ticket bookings for the film opened yesterday, and on the very first day, 55,000 tickets were sold out. Ahead of the release, a promotional event was held in Mumbai, attended by both Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR.
Speaking at the event, Jr. NTR said: “I have learned so much from working with you. I’m eagerly waiting to share the screen with you. Thank you for treating me like a brother, and for welcoming me into Bollywood with open arms.”
Turning towards director S. S. Rajamouli, he added: “Sir, I come from South India. Thanks to Rajamouli, many barriers between the North and South have been broken down. But still, there is a lingering doubt among many South Indians — whether Bollywood will truly accept us.”
Looking back at Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR continued: “Thank you, sir, for accepting me with both arms open. From day one, you have embraced me, and I will never forget it.”
Hrithik Roshan then spoke: “In Jr. NTR, I see a lot of myself. For 25 years, we have both walked similar paths. I believe he too sees a bit of himself in me. It’s true when people say he can deliver a perfect performance in a single take. On set, I didn’t just watch his acting — I learned from him. I learned from him how to give 100% in a single shot, and I will apply that in my future films. Thank you, Jr. NTR, for teaching me that.”
The film War 2 also stars Kiara Advani.
