‘Pallichattambi’ Shooting Wrapped; Tovino Thomas Starrer Set for April 9 Theatrical Release

Published:

The much-anticipated Malayalam period drama Pallichattambi, starring Tovino Thomas in the lead and directed by Dijo Jose Antony, has officially completed principal photography. Director Dijo Jose Antony shared the wrap announcement on his Instagram page, marking the end of an extensive shoot and confirming the film’s readiness for its worldwide theatrical release on April 9, 2026.

Pallichattambi is the most ambitious project in Dijo Jose Antony’s career to date. Following his critically and commercially successful films Queen (2018), the blockbuster Jana Gana Mana, and Malayalee From India, the director steps into the period genre for the first time. Set in the 1950s–60s, the film promises to blend strong socio-historical themes with mainstream cinematic appeal—a signature trait of Dijo’s storytelling style that has earned him a distinct place in contemporary Malayalam cinema.

The screenplay is penned by veteran writer S. Suresh Babu, whose work on Mohanlal’s Shikkar brought him widespread acclaim. With a rich body of work that includes scripts for superstars such as Mohanlal, Mammootty, and Jayaram, as well as collaborations with new-generation talents like Shine Tom Chacko, Soubin Shahir, and Vinayakan, Suresh Babu brings decades of experience and depth to the project.

The film’s technical team is equally formidable. Jakes Bejoy, known for delivering chart-topping albums and consistently successful soundtracks, is in charge of the music. Audiences are already anticipating another memorable score from the composer. Cinematography is handled by Tijo Tomy, while editing is done by Sreejith Sarang, whose work has been widely appreciated across Malayalam and other language films.

Given the film’s period setting, costume design plays a pivotal role. Manjusha Radhakrishnan, a Kerala State Film Award winner, has overseen the costumes, ensuring authenticity and visual richness to the 1950s–60s milieu.

Produced by Noufal and Brijesh under Worldwide Films, in association with Chanakya Chaitanya Charan’s C Qube Bros Entertainment, Pallichattambi will be released in five languages, including Malayalam, underscoring its pan-Indian aspirations.

Tovino Thomas is expected to appear in a completely fresh and never-before-seen avatar, raising expectations for yet another powerful and transformative performance from the actor.

With shooting now complete and post-production underway, the April 9 release positions Pallichattambi as one of the major Malayalam theatrical events of 2026. Industry observers and fans alike are keenly watching to see how Dijo Jose Antony’s biggest and most ambitious film yet will resonate with audiences across languages and regions.
