Vetrimaaran, born on September 4, 1975, is a prominent figure in Indian cinema, renowned for his multifaceted roles as a film director, producer, and screenwriter, predominantly active in Tamil cinema. He is celebrated for his distinctive filmography, characterized by both commercial success and widespread critical acclaim. His contributions to cinema have garnered him numerous accolades, including five National Film Awards, two Filmfare South Awards, and a Tamil Nadu State Film Award.

Vetrimaaran embarked on his directorial journey with “Polladhavan” in 2007, marking the onset of a remarkable career. In his personal life, Vetrimaaran hails from Cuddalore, born to Dr. V. Chitravel, a respected veterinary scientist, and Megala Chitravel, a renowned novelist. His formative years were spent in Ranipet, where he cultivated his passion for storytelling. At Loyola College, he encountered his life partner, Aarthi, with whom he shares a familial bond blessed with two children, Poonthendral and Kathiravan.
