Devara Part 1 Movie Review
Jr. NTR fans have been on a long wait to experience the magical stroke of their matinee idol through ‘Devara Part 1’. The film is directed by Koratala Siva and features musical score by Anirudh. Saif Ali Khan, Prakash Raj and Jhanvi Kapoor are the others in the star-cast.
The story revolves around a group of four hamlets located near the sea, where the men from these villages involve in bootlegging for their survival. Devara (Jr. NTR), and his close associates (Saif Ali Khan, Shine Tom Chacko, Srikanth and Kalairasan), who are hired by the local politician and corrupt police officer. When Devara learns that the goods they are looting from the cargo ships are nothing but grenades and weapons, which are destroying the lives of their own people, he decides to stop them. Unable to disobey his command, his associates decide to kill him. However, Devara goes into woods, warning them that he will be the guard of the sea. Years later, his son (again played by Jr. NTR) grows up as a coward and doesn’t earn the respect of his people as he lacks his father’s bravery. But there’s a mystery lying beneath.
It’s out-and-out Jr. NTR show all the way. He gives a power-pumping performance that will keep his fans glued to the screens. The film is almost 3 hours run time, and you don’t find the lagging anywhere. Saif Ali Khan is the other attraction in this movie. He suits the role befittingly perfect. Jhanvi Kapoor has a minimal scope, and her role doesn’t add any value to the film. Prakash Raj is okay. Kalaiarasan and Tom Shine Chacko have little prominence.
Technically, Anirudh disappoints us with his musical score. Both the songs and BGM resembles many songs including his own compositions.
Overall, Devara Part 1 has a strong appealing package for the commercial cinema lovers and fans of Jr. NTR. The climax twist is totally unexpected, and we need to wait and watch what unfolds in the Devara Part 2.
