Etharkkum Thunindhavan Music Review

Music Director D Imman has found a phenomenal reach for his folk based peppy numbers and melodious treats. Although, his songs comprising colloquial lyrics have been appreciated by few cohorts, it has become the topic of fun among the stand-up comedians as well. And now, let us check out how far he has changed his pattern of musical score, and lyrical approach in this movie Etharkkum Thunindhavan featuring Suriya and Priyanka Arul Mohan in the lead roles. The film is directed by Pandiraj and is produced by Sun Pictures.

VAADA THAMBI
Singers – G.V.Prakash & Anirudh Ravichander
Lyricist – Vignesh Shivan

The song became an instant treat for Suriya fans, and it is clearly indicated through the lyrics penned by Vignesh Shivan. One thing we need to highlight here is about the efficiency of Vignesh Shivan. He hasn’t directed any mainstream heroes till now, but has clearly understood the pulse of their fans. Be it Vijay or Ajith, he has emphasized their ideologies through the songs in Master, and Valimai. Now, he follows the same pattern with Suriya. Well, GV Prakash and Anirudh Ravichander crooning the song together could have been for a promotional purpose, but the track would have done good even with one of them taking over the complete portions. The final portion with percussions and vocals slightly reminds us off the ending minute in ‘Sodakku Mela Sodakku’ from Thaana Serndha Koottam, but to a certain extent alone. Overall, it’s a song tailor made for Suriya and his fans.

ULLAM URUGUTHAYYA
Singers – Pradeep Kumar, Vandana Srinivasan, and Brindha Manickavasakan
Yugabharathi

The melodious classical number is quite a commendable one. Having looked into the glimpse of the making video, where both Suriya and Priyanka looked really cute and appealing, the song befittingly suits them. D Imman makes an additional effort with the second voice that is heard during the interludes, which captures our attention. The singers Pradeep Kumar, Vandana Srinivasan, and Brindha Manickavasakan have given a beautiful rendition. Yugabharathi adds classical essence with the slightest touch of romance and eroticism through his lines, which will gain more impact with the visuals.

SUMMA SURRUNU
Singers – Armaan Malik and Nikhita Gandhi
Lyricist – Sivakarthikeyan

This is yet another treat for mass music lovers. D Imman has the knack of effortlessly scoring brownie points with this genre of music. This track doesn’t differ anywhere from his usual paradigms, and Sivakarthikeyan’s lines are tailor-made for the youth appeal. The choice of singers alone is the salient trait as D Imman would usually bring in Sunitha Sarathy to croon such numbers.

The couple of tracks ‘Vaada Thambi’ and ‘Summa Surunnu’ are commercial treat for Suriya fans, which doesn’t surprise us. Of course, D Imman owns an expertise in this domain, but his beautiful packaging of ‘Ullam Uruguthaya’ definitely needs a special appreciation. Overall, it’s a decent effort by D Imman, and the songs are completely visual bounded, which will escalate its value with the theatrical release.
