Ghaati Review – Anushka Shines, But Drama Fumbles in Execution
Director Krish Jagarlamudi teams up with Anushka Shetty for Ghaati, a survival action drama set in the Eastern Ghats. With Vishal Chandrasekhar scoring the music and Gnana Shekar VS behind the camera, the film promised scale and grit, but does it deliver?
The story revolves around a woman (Anushka Shetty) who gets entangled in a bloody conflict inside the Ghats, where a violent group threatens to unleash chaos. What starts as a tale of survival soon turns into a personal war, testing her courage and resilience against nature, enemies, and her own fears.
Anushka Shetty shoulders the film with commanding presence and physical intensity. She excels in the action sequences, reminding fans why she’s still a force in mass roles. However, the script doesn’t give her enough emotional depth to fully shine.Supporting characters including Vikram Prabhu are largely forgettable, with little impact on the narrative. The antagonists fail to leave a strong impression, weakening the central conflict.
Cinematographer Gnana Shekar VS beautifully captures the rugged Eastern Ghats, giving the film visual grandeur. When it comes to musical aspect, Vishal Chandrasekhar’s score is inconsistent—effective in parts, but often loud and distracting. Songs don’t add much value. Editing could have been sharper, as the sluggish pacing drags down the second half.
Ghaati benefits from Anushka Shetty’s powerful presence, some well-staged action, and striking visuals of the Eastern Ghats, but is let down by a predictable screenplay, underdeveloped characters, a flat emotional core, and a loud background score that pulls away from the drama.
Ghaati had the ingredients for a rousing survival-action drama, but ends up as a half-baked effort. Anushka’s fierce performance and the visual setting stand tall, yet poor writing, lack of emotional heft, and sluggish execution make it an uneven, one-time watch.
