The Legend Music Review

Saravana Stores Legend Saravanan is playing the lead character in this movie ‘The Legend’ directed by JD-Jerry duo (Ajith Kumar’s Ullasam and Whistle fame). The film marks the comeback of music director Harris Jayaraj after a long time. Let us check out how well he has given his best in this album.

Song : Kone Komaane
Singers : Javed Ali, Chandana Bala Kalyan
Lyrics : Vairamuthu

The song owns a unique Harris Jayaraj signature! Kone Komaane brings the most fascinating fusion of western and fusion. The beats on accompaniment give a trendy output and the musical chords are yet another embellishment in upgrading the song’s output. Javed Ali croons the song effortlessly and Chandana is excellent. The song in few places faintly reminiscence of slow version of Rangola from Ghajini, composed by Harris.

Song : Mosalo Mosalu
Singers : Armaan Malik, Mukesh Mohamed
Lyrics : Pa. Vijay

An instant addiction indeed! One among the best compositions of Harris Jayaraj as the song instantly grabs our attention. The music director brings in his signature touch with the saxophone during the interludes. The rendition by Armaan and Mukesh is awesome. The mixing by Harris Jayaraj turns to be the biggest attraction.

Song: Popopo
Singers : KK, Prasad S.N, Jonita Gandhi
Lyrics : Madhan Karky

There’s so much of energy in the song. The biggest attraction is the percussions that works the best results. KK, Prasad and Jonita Gandhi together have brought forth a magic to the lyrical lines of Madhan Karky. It looks like a song that will become a hit only with the visuals.

Song : Konji konji
Singers : KK, Shreya Ghoshal
Lyrics : Kabilan

The prelude comprising the flute and chords on accompaniment gives a good start. As the listen might assume it to be a folk song, it diverts into a Chinese flute classical that extends for a long duration. KK and Shreya Ghoshal have delivered a dulcet melody. The elite lyrics by Kabilan are beautiful, and music has been neatly composed.

Song : Vaadi Vaasal
Singers : Benny Dayal, Jonita Gandhi
Lyrics : Snehan

There’s so much of energy and it’s an instant hit number. There are few musical domains, where Harris Jayaraj scores brownie points effortlessly. One among them is the folk numbers, and he gives a tremendous punch with the composing. Apart from a wonderful composing, the mixing gives a best output, especially when heard on perfect surround systems. The song has lots of layers like percussions, guitar works, nathaswaram, and more than all, the chorus that emblazons the track.

Song : Maayakari
Singers : Unni Menon, Bombay Jayashree
Lyrics : Vairamuthu

The intriguing part about the song is the Harris’ potential in bringing in the best combination of playback singers, something unusual – Unni Menon & Bombay Jayashree. When there’s a classical tune from Harris and Bombay Jayashree croons it, we get a distinct feel of comparing it with some of the tunes of composer (Anal Mele Panithuli). Lines by Vairamuthu are beautiful and poignant.

Overall, it’s a praiseworthy package by Harris Jayaraj. In the recent times, we come across certain music directors, who score brownie points only with the combination of A-League filmmakers and actors, but Harris Jayaraj proves that a music director can stand out to be an exception without doing those piggybacks. The album has a class for its sound mixing and quality, and lots of music detailing by Harris Jayaraj.
