Yaanai Mugathaan Movie Review

Filmmaker Rejishh’s Yaanai Mugathaan features Ramesh Thilak, Yogi Babu and Oorvasi in the lead characters. The film is a fantasy entertainer laced with spiritual elements that draws a simple and neat plot without getting distracted anywhere.

The story revolves around a happy-go-lucky auto-rickshaw driver Ganeshan (Ramesh Thilak), who is an ardent devotee of Lord Ganesha has a bizarre situation – Missing the presence and image of God everywhere. He then gets visited by the Lord personified as a human (Yogi Babu) insisting him to accomplish a mission following which he would be able to see the God again.

What’s the actual task? Did Ganeshan accomplish or fail to do so form the crux of story.

The film has a simple plot that is laced with neat screenwriting. Perhaps, the first half has little sluggish moments, but eventually the momentum is gained by post-intermission. The second half episodes involving Ramesh Thilak and Uday Chandra are touching, and they have been shot exquisitely. Yogi Babu has essayed a unique character for the first time, and he excels well. Oorvasi gets a substantial role after a long time. The other actors have done their roles neatly.

On the technical front, the background score works a lot of magic for the film, especially in the second hour. On the flip side, the running length looks slightly stretched out. With little tweaking, the film would be more engaging.
