Actress Banupriya, who plays Devi in the recently released Motha Rathiri, has spoken about the response to the film and her upcoming projects.
Banupriya studied Viscom at Loyola College and began her work in theatre with Bahrudeen Master’s group before moving into the media industry and later cinema. Her earlier films include Koozhangal, which received international awards, and Thaai Kizhavi.
In Motha Rathiri, she plays Devi, the wife of the character portrayed by Bucks. Speaking about her work so far, Banupriya said:
“I got the opportunity to act in Koozhangal through Bahrudeen Sir. I never imagined then that the film would go on to win several international awards. It remains a very special and unforgettable experience for me.
Thaai Kizhavi took my career to the next level. Now, playing Devi, Bucks Sir’s wife, in Motha Rathiri has brought me immense love and appreciation. I am truly overwhelmed by the response to the character.
I am currently playing Kishore Sir’s wife in Vetrimaaran Sir’s Rajan Vagaiyara. I am also part of some very interesting projects, including Love Bite, starring Santhanam Sir, Om, starring Dhanush and directed by Rajkumar Periasamy of Amaran fame, and a film directed by Mari Selvaraj.
Being associated with such talented actors and acclaimed filmmakers is a matter of great happiness and excitement for me. I am looking forward to this new phase of my journey.”
Banupriya’s upcoming line-up includes Vetrimaaran’s Rajan Vagaiyara, Love Bite with Santhanam, Om with Dhanush, and a project directed by Mari Selvaraj.
