Will Nerkonda Paarvai do justice to Pink?

Just like everyone is curiously awaiting the release of Ajith Kumar’s Nerkonda Paarvai, we are too excited about the movie getting released by this weekend (August 8). While the entire team is busy promoting the film across all the places, we have found something unique about Nerkonda Paarvai and its concurrent link with its original version. The reason behind titling this article as ‘Will Nerkonda Paarvai do justice to Pink?” has some advocacies that we feel is appropriate.

There are few reasons, why Pink became a major success in the first place. In fact, it was a movie that actually turned to be a decent grosser for Amitabh Bachchan when compared to his erstwhile movies in recent times.

The makers of original version placed the movie in backdrops of Delhi instead of Mumbai. There happens to be a strong justification that Delhi happens to be a place, where there are lots of evil and cruel things happen on women. Even if the film was set in the backdrops of Mumbai, it would have eventually not gained that impact, which is being enjoyed as a privilege. When one of the leading newspapers interviewed Vinoth, he was asked, When Chennai isn’t as dangerous as a city like Delhi, how well does the remake version ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ will be justified. His answer was that maybe, the women-centric issues are not so much prevalent as in the mentioned places, but he came across the case study that around 1000 murders have happen, which includes both men and women. The reason happens to be illicit relationship and he even brings in Pollachi issue into it along with child abuses.

However, our major doubt is that the trailer has a dialogue that “Indha Maadhri Ponnungalukku Ippadithaan Nadakkum’ and Ajith Kumar replies, “Nadakaadhu… Appadi Ellam Nadakka Koodaadhu’. To some extent, this is justifying as women in some work places often go through such issues, but how far it is relevant with illicit relationships that he has mentioned although his justification comes from his side that there should be mutual understanding between both sides.
