Filmmaker Santhosh makes his debut directorial with the film ‘Hara Hara Mahadevaki’. The film features Gautham Karthik and Nikki Galrani in lead roles with Bala Saravanan, Naan Kadavul Rajendran, RK Suresh, Satish and Manobala in important roles. The film is an adult comedy produced by K.E. Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green Films in collaboration with Thangam Cinemas.
The film comprises of 5 parallel tracks that includes a breakup tale between Gautham Karthik and Nikki Galrani, a politician (Ravi Mariah) assigning two funny crooks (Bala Saravanan and Naan Kadavul Rajendran) to plant a bomb at political meet, a con man (Bala Saravanan) trying to exchange counterfeit notes for original one, a desolated couple in loss of their child in a lodge and a publicity monger cop (RK Suresh) trying to rescue her. All these characters come across each other in a holiday resort named Hara Hara Mahadevaki.
When someone has decided to make an adult comedy, it’s obvious that they know the right kind of making it.
When someone has decided to make an adult comedy, it’s obvious that they know the right kind of making it. In fact, the films like Trisha Illana Nayantara gratified the teen adolescents to a much greater degree. Whereas with Hara Hara Mahadevaki, it’s actually nothing emphasized much on this theme… Most of those so-called adult jokes are ripped from the famous Whatsapp Swamiji Hara Hara Mahadevaki. In fact, the audience have to strain a lot and laugh out. But at the same time, there are certain sequences that works out in bigger way. Be it the flash mobs that Gautham Karthik to propose Nikki Galrani in his own way leaves us in splits. In fact, big heroes like Vijay, Suriya, STR or anyone would die doing such innovatively humorous scene. But the problem is that the gap between such sequences is lengthy. If the screenplay was done with consistent episodes of good humorous ones like this, it would have been really great and entertaining.
Gautham Karthik and Nikki Galrani has done proper justice to their role.
Gautham Karthik does his part well and he has been showcasing a sort of maturity in every film. Nikki Galrani has done proper justice to her role. Bala Saravanan, Karunakaran and Naan Kadavul Rajendran hardly evoke laughter. But it’s Ravi Mariah and Namo Narayanan giving their best shots in humour.
Yet another problem with the film is that the Whatsapp Swamiji joke is almost time worn like how ‘Yennama Ippadi Pandringale Maa’ was exploited. It is also slightly disappointing to see that junior artists around 100s keep running here and there. It is so much evident that most of them clearly show their insufficiency like stopping somewhere in the midst.
It is also slightly disappointing to see that junior artists around 100s keep running here and there.
To see a cinematographer, who offered stunning visuals in Maanagaram, it is so much disappointing with his work here. Although, the songs have been very well shot with beautiful colours’ combinations, the talkie portions don’t get much.
Musical score by Balamurali Bala is appreciable and he happens to be the show stealer in both songs and BGM.
Overall, Hara Hara Mahadevaki isn’t a full-fledged adult comedy, but it does spark off laughter in places.
