One thing that relentlessly strikes you while watching GV Prakash-Nikki Galrani-Anand starrer ‘Kadavul Irukan Kumaru’ is if it really comes from filmmaker Rajesh, who earlier churned out some catchy and commendable entertainers like Siva Manasula Sakthi, Boss Engira Baskaran and Oru Kal Oru Kannadi with few more inclusions as well. The film hardly has a plot and it takes you through ‘Testing Patience’ drive just as the film’s protagonist Kumar (GV Prakash), a day before his marriage goes on a trip to Pondicherry with the pressure from his close friend Balaji (RJ Balaji). Things turn out to be a bizarre on their way back to Chennai as they get red-handed by corrupt police officer Manimaran (Prakash Raj) for illegally carrying liquor bottles.

It looks like GV Prakash has decided to cater the tastes of ones who lauded and appreciated his ‘Trisha illana Nayantara’. He ardently sticks to the same mannerisms and body language even the dialogue deliveries. From the first frame till the climax, you keep wondering what’s actually happening. If not for the witty strokes delivered from RJ Balaji and Prakash Raj’s humorous performance, you would have precisely moved out of the theatres before the final credits.

“Ellarukkum Sai Pallavi Maathiri Malar teacher venumthaan Aasai, but kadaisila Shruthi Haasan kidaikaradhu illa”

Watch out for the hard-hitting witty lines from RJ Balaji saying, “Ellarukkum Sai Pallavi Maathiri Malar teacher venumthaan Aasai, but kadaisila Shruthi Haasan kidaikaradhu illa.” He keeps pulling everyone’s legs for troll and doesn’t spare anyone, even Ambani Jio to Bobby Simha. Prakash Raj might surprise you for just playing a goofy role, but impresses you vividly. Nikki Galrani hardly has anything to score. Anandhi seems to be smug-bitten with wrong advices over her overloaded makeovers for she looks too bleached up that actually ruins her naturalistic beauty. We loved her in Kayal and yes even her performance as well. Hope she tries to make it all perfect with her looks and characterizations too. But her costumes are very well designed with perfections.

Locality Boys might appeal to the same groups as GV Prakash gives a definition by the beginning of song, but rest of the numbers are really disappointing.

Overall, except few comedy sequences, RJ Balaji and Prakash Raj episodes, nothing really grabs your attention in ‘Kadavul Irukan Kumaru’.
