Right from the day of being an independent musician, Hiphop Aadhi has clearly understood the pulse of audiences. It helped him a lot over ‘Meesaiya Murukku’, which featured him in lead role and marked his directorial as well. Produced by Sundar C and directed by Parthiban Desingu, his second outing ‘Natpe Thunai’ too turns to be an engrossing entertainer that captures the pulse of youth audiences.

The film is set against the backdrops of Pondicherry, where we find Prabha (Hiphop Aadhi) staying at residence of his uncle (Pandiarajan). He falls in love with a beautiful hockey player Deepa (Anagha). While his intentions are completely about settling down in France, situations force him to get into the game of hockey to save a prestigious landmark of hockey ground in his hometown. But actually, he has his own hidden mysterious past.

As abovementioned, everything in this film is purely based on the pulse of audiences. The first half proceeds with entertaining moments of colorful songs and visuals. Apparently, things get more gripping by the pre-intermission scenes. Following this, the post-intermission sequences too have its realms of emotions, especially in the flashback portions. The hockey game we see in the final moments might look slightly stretched out, but then the ending becomes more happening. The characterization of Karu Pazhaniappan stands out to be a very good writing from the team. He remains as center of attraction from beginning till end. Even his final dialogues look so much realistic. Hiphop Aadhi’s hard work in learning the game of hockey is very much appealing. Harish Uthaman as hockey coach has done proper justice to his role. Almost all the characters in the film gets the due prominence despites their screen time.

Musical score by Hiphop Aadhi is major plus, especially the BGM. Cinematography too has been done with good visual treat.

On the whole, Natpe Thunai stands out to be a decorous entertainer for this season.
