Murugadoss, born Murugadas Arunachalam on September 25, 1974, in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu, India, is a distinguished film director, screenwriter, and producer known for his work predominantly in the Tamil film industry. He has also made significant contributions to Telugu and Hindi cinema. Murugadoss began his career in the film industry as an assistant director and gained prominence with his directorial debut ‘Dheena’ in 2001.

His Bollywood debut ‘Ghajini’ in 2008 was a massive success, becoming the first Hindi film to surpass ₹100 crore domestically. He is acclaimed for directing action films that often address social issues, with notable works including ‘Thuppakki’ and ‘Kaththi’, both of which achieved significant commercial success.

Murugadoss’s journey in the film industry is marked by his passion for cinema, which was evident from his college days when he actively participated in cultural events and wrote jokes that were published by Ananda Vikatan. Despite facing rejection from the Madras Film Institute, he persevered and eventually made a name for himself in the film world.
