Sultan Movie Review

Salman Khan’s Eid gift Sultan is an emotional sports drama. The movie happens in the backdrop of this mixed martial arts tournament which isn’t doing well in terms of its economics. So the mastermind of this idea decides to go after Sultan, a man in his 40s who had won Olympic Gold medal for India in the past. Who is Sultan? What’s his past and what are his reasons to fight are what this movie talking about.

Salman Khan has delivered one of his best performance in this movie, do keep in mind that its not his usual Dabangg style. Wiith great physique and body language he fits perfectly in the role as Sultan Ali Khan.To be mention that he speaks Haryanvi accent in the film. Anushka Sharma delivered a superb performance as the equally competing and tough Aarfa. She compliments Salman from start to end.This is one of her finest performance.

Though Randeep Hooda comes only for few scenes, his character doesn’t fail to impress us.Amit Sadh as Aakash Oberoi, a business tycoon trying to establish his business, too has given a good performance. The casting of the film is apt and even the smallest of roles add value to the film and the actor who plays the role of Salman Khan’s friend Gobind deserves a special mention for his role as Sultan’s support system.

Music was composed by VIshal-Sekhar. As far as the music is concerned, better songs would have empowered the film further. Two songs are good. One is Peppy song ‘Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai..’, which has already turned out to be a chartbuster followed by the soft and romantic, ‘Jag Ghoomeya…’ which too has gained a fair bit of popularity.

The cinematography by Artur Zurawski is excellent and the action choreographed by Larnell Stovall is worth appreciating too. From the training sessions to the actual matches within the ring, SULTAN showcases brilliant wrestling moves with precision. All the stunt choreography/wrestling fight sequences looks very natural. Film length is 170 mins which is little too much.

Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. His first success was undoubtedly the casting. All the main characters are biggest strength. Screenplay by Aditya Chopra. Slow paced. Dialogues plays a major role.First half is humorous and romantic, Second half is emotional and serious. If you have enough patience, this Sultan is going to be a special treat. Film is all set to break the existing records.
